Every Wednesday is Steak night… why? Coz its half price steak up at the tavern here… yummlicious Tbone grilled steak.. with choice of garlic, mushroom, red wine sauce… and its always crowded full of work people….

On Tues… something new came up.. Pasta night… this was all happening at Enzo and Rees place.. it was like an international gathering, Aussie, Kiwis, Italians, Bosnians, Solvakians (I tink tts how u spell it) and of coz me!

Enzo a true blue Italian whipped up an astonishing pasta spread… beef, bacon n egg lagsana, ham caborana, seafood marina pasta, spaghetti bolognaise, some Italian speciality of steak and tomatoes on bread, flowing red wine, and I mean loads and loads of red wine, The pasta was enough to feed an army! sweet chocolate brownies to finish it up… we were all sooooooooo stuffed we absolutely couldn’t move by the end of dinner..

And to top it off, italiano music was jus blasting straight out… really dancy rhythmic tunes, romantic croons…. Everyone was clapping, dancing, singing away… Rees, scaffy on the job, just went on Opera mode and started hollering Italian lyrics…Kymbo started spanishy gypsy dance behind the curtains, with the broom….. it was hilarious…. We laughed til our cheeks ached and tears welled up…

Kicked myself for not bringin the camera.. arggghh!! It was a great night…

I cant believe it… its already almost march! Time really whizzes in ultra light galactic speed when you get older AND especially more so when you are having fun…

I just had the most amazing New Year (both Ang moh and Cheena)….spent with family in exciting places…

Last few days of 2008 was crazily spent in
- Mrs Macquarie Chair, Botanic Gardens in Sydney… famous spot for New Year Eve’s , the fireworks scenes they always flash on news,

- clawing through shops and bargains on Boxing day sale..

- being miserably locked out from home (for 8 hours!!!) on Xmas day after a surf at Bondi Beach

CNY were spent in freezingly mesmerizing and snowy white Hokkaido… and culture stimulating, shopping paradise Tokyo.

I missing those times now…. 2nd round visit to Japan on the list of things to do.... for a more intimate exploring around.... hmmm.... wonder when will that be again?..... defintely not in the near future...

3 more days.... 3 more days.!! before i head for my xmas big break.. no work for 4 whole weeks.. woohooo!.....over to brissy and will be spending Xmas n NY in Sydney!! my toes are all wriggly nw! looking forward the amazing fireworks on Sydney bridge and ohhh Boxing day sales!! i'm gonna be feasting til i bloat and shopping till i drop... jus love xmas! will tink about the waistline next yr.. ohh that could be my NY resolution (jus like every other year)

ohhhh found a really really good xmas present idea... full HD plasma panel tv... at size 103".. yeahh all 103 inches of high definition graphics...

Fish & Chips n Moi Pizza

Simply Aussie culture... every friday will be a fish and chips day.. well aside from the early afternoon beer drinking session at work.. but we decided to get abit adventurous, got our hands dirty and made our own pizza... any flavour u wish for, any toppings u wan.. ( or things u just hate on pizzas like anchovies.. yuk!) .. whichever way you wan it. we just got hooked.. and it beame pizza night every friday now..

Lip smacking garlic bread straight off the bbq... bread, butter and garlic combi.. just dvivne..

Laying out all the ingredients for DIY pizza making... onions, pineapples, hams, bacons, capsicums, tomatoes, of coz CHHhheeezze... olives, pizza sauce, chilli.... dream it up!

Up here... we have one of the most stunning sunrise views...... warm orange lights just blaze across the skies... absolutely breathtaking ... that will set me off in dreamland mode for a few secs b4 reality hits me and i stumble to the carpark for another day of work... bleahh..

Heard the other night that there was a sky episode that only comes round every 30 yrs.. its a moon with 2 stars above it.. making it like a smiling face in the night sky... din manage to see it though....

Defintely my MUST HAVE when i fly through Perth... deary Mic recommended it to me.. and for sure i have been fully addicted ever since... its similar to icekachang.. but the ice has been flavoured with milk and fruits * u get ur pick fr mangos, choco, strawberries.. ohhh the list goes on!! * and its ohhhh so soft n gentle... just like snow n cotton candy !! melts in ur mouth.... i'm a big undying fan of strawberry flavour!

It was a cool crisp night. Tagged along to his canoepolo training at UQ pool.
This was the 2nd time I’ve seen him in action in Australia. First time was bout 5 yrs ago in brissy too, for the World championships, where they got defeated badly. Not bad for a first stint.. as they beat the Americans HA!

Warming up with some throwing, paddling exercises.
“PHEEEEEeeeeeeeeeee!” game starts! Some fast action packed, bulldozing through the pool for the ball!
One of the nerve wrecking part of the game is when the opponent tries to wrangle and ram the guy to make him lose his grip.
Everyone’s watching the ball….holding their breath for a goal….

One of the best possible stuff that can happen when flying (besides taking off and landing safely of coz) is when you have been upgraded to business class with compliments. That is a real bonus!

1) You get a roomy big seat for your poor bum.. no more squishy squashy in economy’s puny seats,

2) No elbow wrestling with your neighbour over who gets the armrest,

3) No more cursing your worst possible luck when a humongous and sweaty guy with overworked odour pores sits next to you.

4) No more throwing stare daggers at the guy in front of you in full recline of his seat, killing your vision with the tv screen just barely inches from your face.

5) No more ringing the service bell a few times, asking for water a few times and still NOT get it.

6) no more going “OH $%&*#!” when you knife/fork drops to the floor. For those who experienced it b4, there’s absolutely no way you can bend over and pick it up without hitting someone, crashing your food tray or spilling your drinks. Some people resort to taking their shoes off, using their toes to pinch n wiggle the fork up.. *EWwwwwwwwww* I know haa.. No…that’s not ME! I jus miserably stick with my surviving utensils til the ever so busy air stewardess has time to entertain us poor passengers.

AHhhhhhhhhh….. the pleasures of business class… haha.. I’m turning into a snob!
You get four special buttons to customise your seat anyway you like… with absolutely no complains from your inflight neighbours.
You get addressed by your surname
You get immediate response
You get papers to read.
You get a serve of drink before take off.

One of the big perks of working here is.... u dun have to do your own room haha... i've got housekeeping twice a week....toilets showers are cleaned, beds made, floors clean... rest of the time.. my bed is jus a messy pile .... theory is... its gonna be messy at night again rite? soooo wats the point.... even though i noe its a horrible habit to cultivate.. but hey.. there's no one else in my rm other than me.... y bother? AND... there's absolutely no naggin fr mum!! hahaaa..

anyway usually the cleaner will display out the towels n bathmats "hotel like" style.. with some fancy shaped designs.... u get free soap too.... but snobby me use my own brand of showerfoam haa.. hey its called skin care!

and so i had a huge smile on my face when i opened the door and this greeted me! a flower made fr towels!! i was really impressed... coz i probably wldn't have tot of that!.. creative juices flowing ehh...
Another one that jus made me beam... too cute... that's my sleeping partner... doggie-hippo baby wanabe with the tv remote nicely positioned... jus love it! defintely made my day after a super long day at work!

One of my fav spots…. Byron Bay… jus amazingly blue skies, sparkling turquoise sea with crystal capped waves… also a surfer’s paradise spot… known for the breaking waves..
Its the most easternly point in Australia… and also famous for its breathtaking sunrise … gd spot for whale and dolphin watching!
Mother Nature’s playfulness just drives me nuts sometimes… while trying to get a nice shot, the billowing winds whipped my hair all over my face…arggghhh… I look like a wild Medusa with sunnies
Finally managed to get some nice posey shots with the wind blowing right and some commendable photography skills…. Jus love this place! Haa.. feel like I’m on a fashion photo shoot

Most of you would probably know I’m quite a camera crazy gal. I had only an old Nikon film SLR fr my dad and that jus simply didn’t cut it.. tink of all the film developing costs! I rem buying my first DSLR back in Nov 04 when I attended a basic photography course. Shockingly its been already 4 yrs! Still rem I bargained and negotiated with my dad and managed to get him to pay half for the cam… haa.. citing that he would get priority usage of it… but I was the one who used it like 99% of the time.

I went through a phase where everything was about photography. I would go to fashion shots, marathons, parks, weddings, courses.. goes on n on.. I even managed to ace a spot on a wedding shoot in Melboune with a reknown wedding photographer. That was definitely a great learning curve! Really thanked him for giving a chance

but since I’ve started working up here.. its simply to difficult sometimes. So this passion of mine kinda got waylaid and buried till I’m on R&R or on hols… I still love it heaps though.. I suppose it will be something that stays with me for life …u can never say no to a good shot right ..

Yep… that’s right! I’ve been to foodies paradise….sluuuurrrrpp! *big lick smack on lips*… I’m a glutton.. oh boy.. and I am a very satisfied glutton! But glad I had someone to share gluttony with me HA! How good is that….

Viet food at Hawken… always reminds me of the good old uni days…*for brissy frens.. yep that shop is still the same! Looks the same! Except utensils n bowls have changed and prices up a bit*
Hot pipping Viet beef soup with rice noodles and finger lickin salt & pepper wings… was v tempted to get the Porkchop rice as well.. oh greedy me…. but simply couldn’t stuff in more

Hanachi.. another one of my bestie fav. Famous for being yummy, cheap and fast. They have a new branch in Indooroo now… was torn between chicken katsu curry and yakiniku.. haa.. finally decided on beef yakiniku… yum! Yum! Yum! Still reckon the branch at city taste better though…
A place where all students would know of for sure… Three Monkeys at West End. Great hangout place for coffee n cakes and usually pretty crowded. Love the atmosphere there… dim lighting with a tropical sorta feel with a mix mesh of asian resort furnitures…..That night there was a big group of musicians jus chilling out… and they started playing their percussions.. with drums, bells and wat have u…. relaxing sounds of Egyptian Asian influenced sorta music… with strong percussion beats drumming through…it was jus a great time.

Indulged in a chilled mocha topped with sinful white fluffy whip cream and a thin crusted pizza topped with perfectly orchestrated ingredients
Wah Korean restaurant at city was busy busy busy. Fully packed. Popular place for Asians, especially students. Managed to ace a spot and started ogling n pawing over the menu. Decisions decisions…. Hmmmm….

Settled on a hot n spicy beef stew soup and wats-that-called- claypot rice topped with beef slices and Korean stuff.. was definitely all smiles when the food arrived!

Shucks I’m out of food… hmmmmm…. wat else is there to eat?? Humph!

Warning: all these food wasn’t finished in day.. that’s wild food bingeing…I’m not that crazy (trying hard to see toes over tummy) It was simply 10 course meals taken over several days J *pat happy tummy*

Its scary wat the world is coming to. After the huge China milk scare… u’d probably never treat food labelled *made in China* the same again. U’d tink twice, thrice and read hard, doubly hard. Though this is not the first scare and recall, happened before to China imported products like fishes, prawns, children toys… u name it. But this is probably the first where so many China children are affected as well… Its chilling how unscrupulous humans can get jus to earn the extra profit and more so frightening as they inflict harm on their own people as well. As we all know and learned by now…Money is easily the root of all evil.

Sadly even my fav childhood sweet “white rabbit” is being recalled!! .. bugger…

Biggest fish i ever bought in my life... its huge and cheap too.. straight off the trawlers from my ulu land here... where seafood is plentiful.... these 2 beautiful red emperor snappers total to about 4.6kg very fresh n yummilicious looking.... recipes popping up in my head nw..

haaa... its made into fish head curry now!!! my first attempt cooking it... looks pretty like those selling in the hawker centre hor? haa.. it was yum yum yum!!

Australia Wildlife

Jus say Australia….. boxing kangaroos and sleepy koalas starts poppin in your head…. Its jus natural.
Here’s some of the natives animals that I hugged, carried, stroked and gawked at on my Tassie trip. It’s a really good wildlife park as they allow you to carry, pet n pose with the animals. Most other parks either dun allow touching or try to rip u off with pay-to-carry scheme.

p.s. hey mummy.. since no more tv for Enen.. here’s some free education shows for her ok – “Aussie Animal Show” Taddaa…

The kangaroo I posed with was HUGee.. easily taller than me at full height… ok ok *roll eyes* I’m not THAT tall but he’s still big ok.

On the top right Mr Itchy Skippy (Skippy is Aussie’s pet name for kangaroo). A hilarious sight as he tried to scratch under his armpit with his left paw! So human-like in this action.

Some national geographic action in place! First time I’ve seen a joey in mummy’s pouch!! Soooo cute ehh! And another feeding in mummy’s pouch too.. that’s a big bb!

Another famous Aussie icon. Known to be always chewing on leaves, super slow-mo up the branches or snoozing away with its butt wedged nicely against the tree.
Too bad we weren’t allowed to carry Ms Koala coz she was in one of her “bad moods” but we got up close n personal! Oh yeah.. they have super tough flat butts… that’s how they secure themselves in the trees for a nappa without falling off.

Something to ponder on.. Although Koalas are a native of Australia, they cant be found in Tasmania, this baby was imported from mainland Australia. Haa.. jus goes to show Koalas cant swim…
My BIG Favourtie… Wombats!!! They are really irresistibly cute! Chubby and furry.. and pretty heavy too! They have a big tough bum like Koalas too but its more for protecting themselves against predators as they scurry into their tunnel with their bums facing up when attacked. And boy dun be deceived by their chubby wobbly looks. They can shot off really quickly into the distance when scared or stressed.

Tassie Devils are found only in Tasmania. Dun they looks cute and pretty harmless?... wait til you hear them growl and scream…. Its REALLY HORRIBLeeee… very bloodcurling cry that sends shivers down your spine and goosebumps popping!.. I’m not kidding.. you have to hear it to believe… like a torturous animal/vampire cry u wld hear out of a horror film. Another reason they are also named devils because when they were first discovered, their ears were bright red in colour like the red horns on a devil. (u can c it in e pic)

oh boy.. and you think that’s all…. You have to stay til feeding time and see how these ferocious creatures go crazy at the smell of blood! Growling, attacking, fighting, spatting over the feed ( in tis case was the leg of a wallaby culled by farmers) they start chasing each other round n round the pen like whizzing Ferrari cars while snarling, howling and tearing at the meat. Now you know why they have such a bad reputation. Other than that, they are actually pretty harmless adorable tiny animals….really.
Less famous but super cute n furry Australia natives… the dark brown “mouse like” kangaroo will keep furrying n snuggling in to your warmest corner when you carry it. I love the white dots and the pink nose on the other one! *sorry.. cant rem their names. If you know wat they r called… u win J*

U must be thinking… “how much can a wooden pencil cost?” at most a 100 bucks hand carved out of the finest wood maybe. That’s quite a hefty price tag compared to the everyday blue wooden pencil that probably just cost about $1 each. But the world’s most expensive wooden pencil commands an astronomical price of $20,800. yep that’s right! You din read wrongly, I din miss out on the decimals. It cost nearly 21 grand!...

Babies Bonaza..

Isn’t it funny how we grow up in phases? Rem when we were young.. it was all about play hopscotch and recess time, then on to teenagers all we yakked about was ECAs, boy-girl relationships, hanging out with frens, as we joined workforce we would talk about shopping, our love-hate r/s with work, and slowly as the age creeps upwards, the conversation veers to weddings, flats and opps now BABIES!!...

A few more years we’d all probably be exchanging info on the best schools, best tuition centre and for sure year end papers.. haaa…

Being labelled as an aunty now brings shudders down my spine....yikes.. sounds like a death sentence where you’ve hit the thirties-forties phase for sure!…I definitely prefer to be called Jiejie anytime (hint hint mummy)

Age is definitely catching up.. but I jus LOVE how cute, tiny and adorable babies are!! some girlfrens have brave pains and labour to go through pregnancy.. and taddaa… having absolutely CUTE babies nw.

He’s got huge round eyes and fairest skin! And he giggles when you read Tang Shi to him!! Amazing!
She’s got the most flexible cutest tongue.. ever…and with amazing lung power! Next Whitney Houston!

This drama is a must for any to-be or new mummies… very heartwarming, hilarious and u’d definitely feel the pains and rewards of having a bb…and oh …the bb in the show is sooo cute tooo!! One scene for sure my gf has experienced… dodging flying bb poo n pee… haa.. I cant imagine that happening to me next time!! Gosh…but I guess bb’s poo will sure smell great! Especially when its ur own bb’s

Aussie Spit Roast

Been arrowed for having a jap food blog *flick at mei*... so here's some aussie party photos to break the jap trend.

Had a aussie spit roast party to celebrate our installed wharf modules shipped all the way from Batam. well.. wat's a spit roast? its acutally a whole pig on a spit, or say legs of lamb or butts of beef, skewered on a spit, slowly revolving over gas/charcoal and roasted to perfection.

Party was held at Wickham OB's Club ... Wickham's the nearest town to our site, 10 mins dwn the road (by car) OB = Old bastard's.... no no no.. i'm not kidding haa.. pretty cool wacky name for a club rite~

Dress standards... "Shout" in aussie slang means "Its your treat" haaa..obviously no one wore a tie that night...

Jap Theme Night

It was abit of a Jap craze on my trip back..this time round at Waraku Central... i like Waraku for their big yummy serving and good prices... but this night no one seemed very pleased with their orders. As usual, Waraku was packed to the max, even on a weekday nite. Atmosphere was really noisy n bustling with the servers shouting out loud Jap greetings... (it got quite annoying towards the end of the evening)

but i must say its was a great nite.. coz its been a while since 5 of us could get tog.. with 2 working in Aust.. chances like tt's rare.

Pork Katsu Set with Udon soup

Mic was mystified yet impressed with her huge HUGE HUGEEEEE bowl.. (i tink i can almost sit in it!) she had a facial steam spa while working through her udon...

Yeah!! dinner's over!! dessert time!

i've always went past this popular Jap dessert place, seen it featured on tv as well.. finally got to try it that night. Its got quite a long history in Japan..the displays looks absolutely tempting!

even the menu is good!! couldn't decide what i wan!!

After some heart wrenching decisions... this was wat we ordered.. i got the sesame paste "ice kachang" topped with vanilla soft serve.. my critic? defintely looks very much better den it tastes... guess its jus another food fad... could have done with a bigger blob of saseme paste...

haa ohh and Rac's vanilla softee n grilled sweet potatoe with green tea syrup toppled over in 5 secs after being served!! we had to rescue it!!

probably will be next year b4 we can get a shot of 5 again!

Part time "Taitai" career

haaa.. part time "taitai"... only for a week each month though..well at least i'm a step closer to "taitai" status...

Kudos to my "taitai" party buddies... taking time off work to enjoy an afternoon with me! Dejavu! we had a Sex in the city meet up on my last trip... Mel n Mei mei missed out tis round.. so became an SHE tea party... (at least u can enojoy the photos! haa esp Mel)

After our millionaire dream was busted, we dropped by this nice cafe at BT plaza. Pretty tea set serving! the teapot comes with a mitten like warmer! haa. cool

I’ve always known that internet was a very very powerful search tool and I would also proudly declare that I cant possibly live without internet (sad reality but true). Street directories, latest news, weather, buddies blogs, latest shopping craze, restaurants, carpark rates… the list is endless.. .

but I got a wake up call last nite - internet being so powerful that nothing really stays private anymore.

Was having dinner with my frens… chatting about stuff and came to a point when my fren mentioned that he knows that I’ve done a traffic management study before and that I got first in canoeing last time with a timing of 2 mins something…. and he got this all off the net!! Pretty shocking eh… I was like #@$&*$...

well I need to highlight that he is highly tuned into gossips.. I secretly think he thrives on gossips …

I must say I’ve never googled me b4.. never crossed my mind coz I probably never had the need to research more info about myself and also never had the curiosity to find out if I can ever be googled…so this morning I done it.. googled meself… and I realised there’s quite a few others same named people as me. Found a uni thesis that I’ve done donkey years ago as well… buried deep in the zillions tons of info on net.

Welcome to the future world. Privacy takes on a whole new meaning. That will be something to ponder on….

Whirlwind Affair with Mr F

its been a crazy whirlwind week... with many affairs with Mr Food... stuffin myself to the max.. haa.. b4 i head back to ulu land... had quite a few dosages of japanese food... yummy.. love them!

this was one of the dinners at Kuriya... with my dad and sis... our initial plan was to go Iganiku at Swissotel.. supposedly one of the top jap restaurants in Spore..dad had disc fr raffles club but my knees weakened when i saw the prices.. set menus start from $100 per person.. thats the cheapest set.. i'm not a huge gourmet foodie person.. unlike my older sis (splurgin on food is her destresser)... so din tink it was worth it.. thus convinced my dad to try a more economical jap place... so ended up at Kuriya.

i'd leave Mr Iganiku for next round!! :)

We ordered 2 sets inbtw 3 of us... and portions were just nice.. (probably not enough if you are big eaters) Yummilicious as it comes with starters, mains, desserts and coffee. :)

I'm defintely a happy gal nw !

on a last note.. i'm really impressed with the service at Kuriya.. not much prompting needed.. after being deafened at Waraku Central (hope u gals have recovered!!) .... impeccable service! thummies up!

Leaving home... AGAIN...

flying off again... leaving my home for another home...
got the 9am flight out... as meimei says.. i missed out on the Spore Olympic Team homecoming party.. shucks..

Usual routine.. after checking in, went to tabao some nibbles, made my way to the lounge at T1...

quiet morning...pretty deserted, jus a few angmohs around..

grabed a wake-me-up caffine shot..read aussie papers...

bought some DFO liquer n ciggies as according to my "singapore shopping order"
pretty dreary sight of the plane haa.. i realised i spend 2 days in a month sitting on planes .. doing a quick maths.. thats like 48 days in 2 years spent sitting in planes.. gosh!!! thats a pretty long time to be sitting in planes... sigh.. tink lugging my bags around the airports is starting to wear me out a bit.. :P

On a happier note.. i'm back in my 1st home... in the ulu land...its pretty weird but i kinda miss my bed n pillow here haaa.. gd snuggle tonite! :)

ohh.. have heaps of photos to load up!! all the yummy foodie outings with the gals haaa.. *drooling*

My parents went to Japan for a business trip 2 weeks ago..... + bit of pleasure of coz! haa.. the moment i knew bout the japan trip my eyes went blink blink blink!!... but sadly i missed out on the timing again.. jus like on their Europe trip... it didn't tie up with my R&R schedule..... but oh well...i'd jus get my mum to do some shopping for me... and ohboy.. it turned out to b a long shopping list! ...made me feel guilty.. coz my mum was so busy buying my stuff..and tired fr carrying them around.. she din shop much herself..

and.. she got all the things on my list....!! i'm VERY VERY impressed and amazed actually.. coz my mum is abit blur blur type in foregin places haaa.. love her to bits!!! ( oh.. minus the nagging of coz!)

also had japan airflown fruits...had heaps of pears, honeydews and peaches!!! freaking expensive fruits!! haa.. like that green pear.. is S$10 EACH... *faint* and the honeydew is like S$17 ... had peaches too.... but they were gobbled up too quickly b4 i took the photos... but i must say.. the fruits were really really nectar sweet!!.. different taste to our usual honeydew..espcially the peach.. sluurpp... well worth the $ to try... at least once in ur life haaa...

Was jus sorting out my huge .. and i mean HUGE ....collection of Tassie photos....(we had like 3 cams, 2 DSLR + 1 video cam btw 8 of us).... putting good ones into my fav and editing them.. when i saw this moment... we were jus clowning ard outside this famous Kate Berry Farm on the East Coast of Tassie... trying to see who gives the tightest hardest hug... its moments like that when you wish it never ends.

There's not much chances where u can SQUEEEeezeeee my face like that..... and tts probably will be the last...

Love the feel of this setting ..the rustic walls, creepy branches....decided to give it a antique sorta feel..... kudos to ah boy who got this shot.. getting very prof! :)

Since i've been stuck in the rut of ulu land... been faithfully reading up frens' blogs to get updated on the happenings in their lives....

Ah neo also started a blog 2 weeks ago. when he was bored to tears at UQ's library. Haa he hankered and bugged me to post something on his blog too..... after the 1st post, i must say that simply got me going again..
